As much as I would like to cook breakfast every day, I can tell you without hesitation that it happens roughly 1% of the time. I love eggs, but eggs require cooking and cooking requires the washing of dishes and none of those things really need to happen before work on a weekday. To keep you from doing any unnecessary cooking on workday mornings, I’ve partnered with to talk a little bit about how a healthy breakfast can fit easily into your morning routine.
I’ve gone through many phases of breakfast over the course of my life: in high school, it was whatever I could eat in the car and generally something that came from the freezer section of the grocery store. In college, I often skipped breakfast altogether and at my first job, I had oatmeal sweetened with a little bit of maple syrup every. single. day. I’ve been through egg white phases, Starbucks breakfast sandwich phases, homemade breakfast sandwich phases and Greek yogurt phases. Mix Red Berries cereal, pretzel sticks and soy nuts or seeds. Super simple & yummy!
The one thing that never gets old though is cereal and milk. For as long as I can remember, has been among my very favorite cereals. Made with whole grains and now with more real strawberries, a bowl of Red Berries and milk is a nutritionally rich breakfast choice that gives women the fiber, folic acid and vitamin D to help nourish them onto amazing things, while still delivering a great taste.
There are some cereals where you need to add ingredients like fruit or granola in order to make them palatable. Not the case here. No matter where you are, you can eat a simple and quick breakfast with Special K Red Berries.
Breakfast at Home
If you’re an early riser (but not early enough to feel like doing dishes before 9:00 a.m.), it only takes a few minutes, possibly while your coffee is brewing, to brighten up your bowl of Special K Red Berries and top with fresh blueberries or diced peaches.
The best part about this cereal is that it’s packed with fresh strawberries, so even though you don’t need to add extra fruit, a few extra nutrients never hurt anyone and it’s fun to mix flavors.
Speaking of mixing flavors, consider mixing Red Berries cereal with Chocolatey Delight cereal. Think of an ice cream sundae, but in breakfast cereal form and without the sugar crash or guilt. You won’t regret it.
Breakfast at Work
Whenever I make a real, concerted effort to eat clean, I find myself surprised by how good I feel, when logically, eating better means feeling better. To that same end, in order to feel special, you have to eat special. Getting the right amounts of nutrients like fiber, folic acid and vitamin D can help women take on the day.
If you don’t eat breakfast before leaving in the morning, take it to go. Cereal is one of the easiest things to store in your office kitchen or even in your desk. If you don’t have an office kitchen or a mini fridge to store milk, mix Red Berries cereal, pretzel sticks and soy nuts or seeds into a super simple and delicious trail mix to nosh on the go.
Breakfast on the Weekend
Every Saturday morning I take my dog to the farmer’s markets, while Sundays are for sleeping in. Either way, I generally have more time to linger on the weekends than I do when I’m headed out to door to get to work.
On weekends, take the time to make something fun, like a 200-calorie Special K Parfait or a Banana Berry Parfait. Protein, carbs and low-fat dairy will keep you feeling fueled until lunchtime.
