Another Friday, five more favorites. Greeting cards, puppies and wine…who is ready for the weekend?
Grown Ass Lady Card
I love to send and receive greeting cards, even though my process of sending them typically means that said cards sit in an addressed envelope for several weeks before I finally get around to buying stamps. Nonetheless, there is nothing like getting personal mail. Known for Empathy Cards that help let cancer patients that they aren’t alone, Emily McDowell Studio also creates inspiring and tongue-in-cheek greeting cards for birthdays, holidays and just because. I agree with Emily that a greeting card in the mail offers a connection that a text or email doesn’t…even if I forget to send them sometimes.
Kim Crawford Wine Gems by ANNA new york
There’s nothing better than a crisp glass of white wine alfresco on a summer evening…unless it takes you more than 30 seconds to drink your wine and it gets warm. Anna Rabinowicz of ANNA new york by RabLabs, known for her trendsetting semi-precious stone coasters, has teamed up with Kim Crawford to create an ice-less way to keep wine chilled, much like a whiskey stone, using her trademark gemstones. These first of their kind wine gem prolong the ideal drinking temperature of a glass of white wine, offering an innovative, ice-less way to quite literally enjoy wine on the rocks.
MyRescue.Dog, Not .Com
www.MyRescue.dog, a .dog not a .com, is a site where adopters can post pictures and short stories about their beloved rescues, and consumers can vote for their favorites through September 26. Each posted picture generates a $10 donation to Petfinder Foundation, and each vote generates a $1 donation, all up to $100,000.
In case you’re wondering, I did in fact post Henry, but a few others have caught my eye, including corporate Kevin, smiley Cheesedip, patriotic Gunner and apparently any other dog wearing some sort of tie or clothing.
The shelter or rescue group from which the most popular dog was adopted will receive $25,000, and the next 15 shelters will each receive $5,000. Winners will be announced upon conclusion of the voting period and all the donations will be administered through Petfinder Foundation. So get over there and vote, vote, vote!
Riunite Lambrusco
What’s red, fizzy, and best served chilled? Riunite Lambrusco, known for its cult popularity in the 1970’s, lends itself perfectly to sangria but is also a good summer sipper if you aren’t ready to commit to fall and winter reds.
Just like most sparkling wines, Lambrusco pairs with everything from summer barbecue to a rich, cheesy pasta dish to a deep dark chocolate dessert. Riunite is also available in 187mL “cuties” size, which are not only adorable, but convenient for those times you want a glass without having to open a bottle.
