When it comes to sweets, I’m a purist. Give me plain milk chocolate over a chocolate chip cookie-stuffed, bacon-topped chocolate donut any day. There is something elegant about simplicity, whether it’s fresh berries topped with dense whipped cream in the summer or a batch of red velvet cupcakes. Red velvet is distinctive in its looks and a top contender for a lot of people in the favorite cupcake category. These red velvet cupcakes are easy to whip up for a get together or to have on hand next time your girlfriends come over for a Bravo marathon. Top them off with a cream cheese frosting that’s just as tasty as the red velvet cupcake itself (maybe even tastier). I like to spike the frosting with fresh vanilla bean or sometimes, International Delight Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer for a slightly unique taste.

When I visited New England for a long weekend earlier this year, my friend Ann kept insisting that we try whoopie pies, the official state treat of Maine. We went so far as to pick some up on our ride up from Boston to Portland but between eating lobster rolls, clams and linguine and finally, the famous mashed potato and bacon pizza from Otto over the course of the weekend, we never even came close to leaving any room for whoopie pies. Though as time progresses, I find myself in the kitchen doing more cooking and less baking, I still get the urge to visit my stand mixer every now and again and bake something sweet. With whoopie pies still on my mind, I decided to dust off an old recipe for the Maine treat and give them some holiday flavor with International Delight White Chocolate Raspberry cream filling.

Pumpkin Pie is easily one of the most iconic desserts served at Thanksgiving dinner tables. Though we’re big fans of our pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust, pumpkin pie happens to be one of the easiest desserts you can ever make. Ever. When we see recipes for “One Bowl Pumpkin Pie” we have to laugh. Most pumpkin pies require little more than one bowl and a spoon or spatula to mix all of your ingredients together. What goes in the bowl? That’s where you can get creative. We substituted half of the heavy cream or milk that typically goes into a pumpkin pie with International Delight Pumpkin Spice Creamer. We can’t get enough of the flavor this season and it adds the perfect hint of warm fall spices to the already earthy sweetness of pumpkin pie.

Whether you’re powering up for a workout, craving a mid-morning snack or looking for a way to pack more fruits and veggies into your daily diet, a creamy smoothie will fit the bill. When you want a creamy, indulgent snack that will taste like dessert, a pumpkin spice smoothie topped with white chocolate and crunchy pecans is even more fitting. Whether it’s October or April, pumpkin will give your smoothie plenty of vitamin A and fiber, while frozen banana and Greek yogurt give it a thick texture. International Delight Pumpkin Spice Creamer will make your otherwise virtuous smoothie taste like a treat. If you want to make your smoothie a healthier, pre-workout snack, skip the chocolate shavings and garnish your beverage with chopped pecans and a pinch of nutmeg.

Growing up, my family had an antique milkshake maker that had belonged to my mother’s grandparents. It had a heavy, metal base and whenever we dragged it from the cabinet, it was always a special occasion. Not only were we awed by watching the single spindle making milkshake magic, but milkshake nights were entirely more special and celebratory than regular old ice cream nights. Sadly, your metabolism as a seven year old is dramatically kinder than it is when you’re in your thirties, so milkshakes are no longer even a once in a while treat, but a once in a really really really long while treat. As a child, our milkshakes were usually chocolate or vanilla ice cream combined with milk and chocolate syrup. Now, if you’re going to go for that once in awhile milkshake, you need to go big or go home. The grown up version of the ultimate indulgence uses only two ingredients: vanilla ice cream and International Delight Salted Caramel Mocha Creamer. A touch of caramel sauce and a healthy serving of whipped cream go a long way too.
