This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SipIndulgence #CollectiveBias Almost one year ago, I accepted a full-time job after nearly five years of self-employment. The thought of waking up every day to go into an office and sit at a desk all day was a little terrifying at first, mollified mainly by the idea that I would need to buy a new work wardrobe to replace my yoga pants and sweaters. On my first day, my boss told me to try not to be overwhelmed, because “your first week should be about setting up your computer, learning how to use the VPN and finding the coffee machine.” At this point I should mention that there are five people in our loft-style office and there is only one place the coffee machine would conceivably be. My point is that when you start a new job, coffee is going to be your best friend. Even bosses think so. And after one (or two…or three…) sip(s), so will NESTLÉ® COFFEE-MATE® Liquid Coffee Creamer. Even now that I’ve been settled into my role at work for close to a year, sometimes the afternoon just calls for […]

If there is one thing I know about men that I will argue until the end of time, it’s that they are infinitely more difficult to buy holiday gifts for than women are. I’m sure that I’m perpetuating all kinds of sexists stereotypes with this statement, so I’ll illustrate with an example. I’ve known my brother for all 30 years that he’s been alive. His birthday is in January and I typically have his gift by February or March. His girlfriend, who I met for the first time about six months ago, just had a birthday in December. I had her gift in hand in October and gave it to her a week early. Ladies, even though it isn’t half as much fun buying clothing, costume jewelry, accessories and bath/beauty products for men, there are ways to get creative with your gift giving this holiday season. The one thing all humans have in common is that we eat. Even for people who aren’t foodies that love to cook and dine out, a special dinner every once in awhile is always a welcome receipt. Instead of opting for the ho-hum restaurant gift card, put together a fun and festive package of delicious, […]

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BeHealthyForEveryPartofLife #CollectiveBias When you’re getting ready for a big date night and you want it to be special, it’s easy to forget some of the things that will make you look and feel your best. We’ve compiled the perfect date night kit that you can easily make for yourself, or for a friend with all of the essentials. When I create care packages I like to pull of the goods together in a special bag, box or container. I made this specific kit with a friend in mine who will be celebrating her first wedding anniversary soon. While I don’t know what the couple’s plans are, I do know that when you’re planning a special event, it’s easy to forget minor details. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion with a weekend getaway or upping the Friday night ante with an elegant dinner in, there are a few essentials that are easy to forget, but impossible to go without. Materials Needed Wooden or wicker basket Ribbon color of your choice I started by customizing a pretty basket with my friend’s favorite color ribbon. It’s […]

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TryALittleGoodness #CollectiveBias I’m what you would call a “reluctant runner.” Once or twice a year, I’ll sign up for a race. I begrudgingly complete all, well most, of my training runs. I’ll complete said race with varying levels of success and usually, I feel so amazing that I swear up and down that I’m not going to let myself get out of shape again and that I’ll do another race within the next two months. Right. The next thing I know, it’s been two months since I’ve put on my sneakers and the farthest I can run is to the Starbucks across the street. My friend Nicolle, on the other hand, is a little more dedicated, having completed the Chicago Marathon this year in less time than it takes me to convince myself to go to the gym to spend twenty minutes on the elliptical. On the day of the big race, a bunch of our friends got together to track her down on the course with fun signs, and of course celebrate her achievement over brunch after the finish. Another fun way to […]

There are few things more depressing than blank, white walls. Sadly, when you rent a home, as is common in most big cities, painting is generally a no-go unless you agree to paint your walls back when you move. And when you’re about to move, painting a wall you’ll never see again is probably the absolute last thing you’ll want to do. When you can’t decide how to brighten up those naked, empty walls, that’s where Mouth & Trousers comes in. Created by our talented graphic designer Kristin Miaso and her equally talented copywriter Jenn Boston, Mouth & Trousers is a rad line of vintage inspired prints that will not only make you smile wide, but will really tie your room together. All posters are 24 inches by 36 inches, which is a standard poster size perfect for framing in your kitchen, den or dining room. Posters arrive flat and folded for authenticity, a throwback to how vintage posters were traditionally shipped. Says the company’s website: “it’s like you plucked them straight from the store windows, but better because you won’t be arrested for shoplifting.” Kristin and Jenn chatted with us about about their latest venture, Mouth & Trousers and what inspired them to launch […]
