So it’s almost Valentine’s Day. Maybe you have romantic plans that involve oysters and champagne. Maybe you have a ‘Galentine’s Day’ celebration planned.
Or maybe you and your two pals, Ben & Jerry, are going to get a little freaky.
I’m not judging, promise.
Either way, here are a few Valentine’s Day dinner menus to help you spread the love, no matter who is at your table.
Valentine’s Day Dinner Date for Two
Don’t worry about pulling out all the culinary stops for Valentine’s Day.
Instead, keep it simple and since you won’t have to spend the whole night fussing and stirring, you’ll enjoy your date that much more.
Instead of truffles and risotto, impress your sweetie with a combination of classic comfort foods like Caesar salad, seared steak and hearty potatoes.
Top off the meal with a classically elegant chocolate dessert and pair the meal with a great red wine.
The Menu:
Grilled Caesar Salad from In Good Taste
Seared Steak Filets with Mustard Sauce from The Kitchn
Garlic Parmesan Scalloped Potatoes from In Good Taste
Chocolate Dump-It Cake from New York Times
Valentine’s Day Small Plates (Tapas) Party
If your Valentine’s Day is going to be low-key and casual, the food you serve should be too.
Plan an array of no-fuss fare that will keep your guests sated. You can even purchase some store-bought items here, such as a variety of gourmet olives, cured meats and cheeses and a few crispy baguettes to munch on between courses.
Pair with a big pitcher of pomegranate sangria.
The Menu:
White Bean Bruschetta from In Good Taste
Chicken Satay from The Perfect Pantry
Hot Crab Dip from Chez Us
Pears with Brie and Prosciutto from In Good Taste
Honey-Drizzled Cheese Toasts from In Good Taste
Dried Cranberry and Ginger Cannoli from Dana Treat
Chocolate Pretzel Tart from Pictures & Pancakes
Valentine’s Day Dinner Date Night for One
You might be flying solo this year but your kitchen needs love too.
Do cupid proud with a hearty meal that balances crisp, fresh greens with a flavorful salmon dish and then treat yourself to chocolate.
Serve your meal with a bottle of bubbles and toast yourself for being so freaking awesome.
The Menu:
Foil Packet Salmon with Lemon and Capers from In Good Taste
Winter Green Salad with Poppyseed Dressing from Reluctant Entertainer (save the leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch!)
One Minute Chocolate Mug Cake from Chocolate Covered Katie

February 11, 2011 at 8:15 amI’m honored to be included in this list! At this point, I have no plans of either cooking dinner or making reservations for dinner. Better remedy that!

February 10, 2011 at 10:16 pmHmm…This menu reminds me of the menu I put together for Valentine’s Day last year (with your help of course), minus the chocolate.
