Growing up, my family had an antique milkshake maker that had belonged to my mother’s grandparents. It had a heavy, metal base and whenever we dragged it from the cabinet, it was always a special occasion. Not only were we awed by watching the single spindle making milkshake magic, but milkshake nights were entirely more special and celebratory than regular old ice cream nights. Sadly, your metabolism as a seven year old is dramatically kinder than it is when you’re in your thirties, so milkshakes are no longer even a once in a while treat, but a once in a really really really long while treat.
As a child, our milkshakes were usually chocolate or vanilla ice cream combined with milk and chocolate syrup. Now, if you’re going to go for that once in awhile milkshake, you need to go big or go home.
The grown up version of the ultimate indulgence uses only two ingredients: vanilla ice cream and International Delight Salted Caramel Mocha Creamer. A touch of caramel sauce and a healthy serving of whipped cream go a long way too.
- 2 cups quality vanilla ice cream
- ¼ cup International Delight Salted Caramel Mocha Creamer
- Caramel sauce (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Using a blender or milkshake machine, blend all ingredients together until smooth.
