If it were up to me, National Coffee Day would be every day. I celebrate it every morning around eight o’clock while checking emails and getting organized for the day ahead.
While I’m a morning coffee drinker, I know there are people out there who finish an evening meal with coffee. If it’s a meal at home for a special occasion, why not make your digestif a little stronger? Why not dabble in the Cafe Royal?
When it comes to cocktails, coffee lends itself well to creativity and tastes great with most spirits, from Chartreuse to sherry.
Like most spiked coffee drinks, this Cafe Royal is simple and needs only one spirit to complement fresh-brewed, black coffee. We used Patron XO Cafe, which is blend of tequila and coffee essence that lacks the sweetness of most coffee liqueurs.
- 1½ oz Patron XO Cafe
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee
- Freshly whipped cream
- Cocoa powder
- In a heated coffee mug add Patrón XO Café. Fill to within 1 inch with coffee.
- Top with freshly whipped cream and dust with cocoa powder (optional).
