The thought of waking up every day to go into an office and sit at a desk all day was a little terrifying at first, mollified mainly by the idea that I would need to buy a new work wardrobe to replace my yoga pants and sweaters. On my first day, my boss told me to try not to be overwhelmed, because “your first week should be about setting up your computer, learning how to use the VPN and finding the coffee machine.” At this point I should mention that there are five people in our loft-style office and there is only one place the coffee machine would conceivably be.
