Let me first make one thing clear: I am not a morning person. I have never been a morning person. I will probably never be a morning person. If it weren’t for the whole, ‘having a job and needing to be a responsible adult’ thing, I would probably go to bed around 2:00 a.m. and wake up around 10:00 a.m. (assuming a blissful 8 hours of sleep). In college, my earliest class began at 10:00 a.m. and my motto was, “if your major requires you to take 8:00 a.m. classes, then change your major.” Unfortunately, that doesn’t quite fly in the corporate world ten years later. Though, I am quite lucky, as my current job begins at 9:30 a.m., so while I do get to bed before 2:00 a.m., I have a little more luxury than most when it comes to hitting that snooze button at 7:30 a.m. Even so, I do need some motivation to actually get out of bed when the alarm goes off and let me tell you, it’s not a one-step process. For those of you who, like me, struggle with mornings, here are a few tricks in my arsenal that get me rising and shining […]

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BringYourBestBowl #Target #CollectiveBias In this recipe, creamy and delicious oatmeal combines with the indulgent taste of coconut cream pie for a breakfast that will transport you to a tropical vacation. Living in Chicago during the winter months, my daydreams typically involve beaches and frozen beverages, even though neither of those things are within reach during the long, cold months of January, February and March. On days that you wish you were poolside but the weather is better suited for cold weather comfort food, you can combine the two: coconut cream pie oatmeal. Oatmeal is a great go-to for breakfast, especially in the winter when you crave something that will stick to your ribs during the morning commute. As it so happens, Quaker® is currently hosting their National Bring Your Best Bowl Contest, where anyone can enter a recipe for a chance to win $250,000. The winning recipe entries will be created and sold in stores for a limited time this fall (Just keep in mind recipes should be two to five ingredients – simple!). The contest is underway and will end on March 12, 2016. Winners will be announced in […]
