Ingredients
  • 1 cup apple pie filling (from a Marie Callender's Dessert Pie)
  • 1 tube crescent rolls
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream, divided
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Cook pie according to package directions and cool/serve accordingly. Scoop 1 cup of pie filling from the pie and set it aside.
  2. Unroll crescent rolls on a flat work surface, leaving them as intact as possible. Press the seams together to form one big rectangle. Spread apple pie filling s over the crescent rolls and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll the mixture tightly and using a serrated knife, slice rolls into 8 equal portions for average cinnamon rolls, or 5 portions for slightly larger cinnamon rolls, depending on how many people you need to serve.
  3. Place rolls in a 9-10 inch cake pan or rectangular baking sheet, lined with parchment paper, sides touching.
  4. Bake until golden on the top, 11-14 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the heavy cream and stir for approximately one minute. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla.
  6. Top rolls with icing and serve immediately.
