3 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted, browned and cooled slightly
2 eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
¾ sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a doughnut pan with baking spray and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, salt and spices. In a measuring cup, whisk together wet ingredients; buttermilk, apple cider, browned butter, eggs and vanilla extract.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix as you will have rubbery donuts. Using a small spoon, scoop batter into prepared donut pan, filling each about ⅔ full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts are baked through and spring back when lightly touched. Let cool in pan for 1 minute and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. While cooling, make the topping.
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. When donuts are completely cooled, dip each in melted butter and then cover in cinnamon sugar.
